About

Form and Void is a music and multi-media art project. Musically it is centered on noise and rhythm, frequently mediated through the use of samplers. Atonal, arhythmic compositions of noise generated by a variety of synthesizers, tape loops, guitar pedals, and other devices are cut up, sampled and structured.

Once structured, additional samples of church sermons, political speeches, documentaries, or other media are layered throughout the tracks to give them character. After this, lyrics are written recorded. Song content typically explores themes of religious trauma, psychological horror, philosophy, politics, and sobriety.

A growing number of digital and non-digital art pieces have also been created. Collaging is heavily used in both cases. The Cross of the Void logo, and many other symbols used throughout the project, were created using the "cut-up" technique that Burroughs brought to the fore in the 1950's, or techniques heavily influenced by the "cut-up."
